“What does God want me to do” has to be one of the most asked questions, not only by Christians, but also non-Christians. It is often a preface to other more specific questions like, “What does God want me to do in school?”, “What does God want me to do for a career” or “What does God want me to do about this relationship?”
I think deep down inside, all of us know that God’s route is the best route, however we often have trouble recognizing it amongst all the different options that life puts in front of us. Romans 12:2 offers some guidance: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
It is only when we allow our minds to be transformed by God that we can know what God’s will is. As we spend time with God and get to know Him more, then His thoughts become our thoughts, His desires our desires, and His will our will. Furthermore, when our minds are in line with Christ’s we are better able to hear the Holy Spirit lead us.
Then His will can be done.
